HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-19-1957 Council Meeting Miutes 22 Canton, Ill. March 19, 1957 A regular meeting of the City Council held this day convening at the hour of 7:00 t'. M. with Mayor Woods presiding. Roll call showed the follow- ing present: Alderman Sebree, Seick, Smith, Miller, Tink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook and Hill. Absent: Alderman Lundry and Skinner. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and stood a?proved as read. Petition of residents at lath Avenue and Anderson Place at the C.B & Q depot, requested the City seek relief from noise of the Diesel Engine which is left running, was referred to the City Attorney to contact the office of the railroad in Chicago. Petition of Henry & Lillie Blacker requesting the disconnection of a tract of land on E. Chestnut St. limits, from the City, was submitted. It was moved by Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Cook, an Ordinance be drafted covering same to be submitted at the next meeting, and the motion carried. Petition of the Fulton County Boat Club, requesting permission to hold a professional boat race at Canton Lake on May 26th, was on motion of Alderman Cook, seconded by Alderman Hill granted by the following vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Swick, Smith, Miller, Tink, turner, Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY: None. Redolution for additional Overhead Lamps at S. Avenue B, was on motion of Alderman Sebree, seconded by Alderman Swick, adopted by e following vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Swick, Smith, Miller, Tink, Turner, Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY. None. Resolution to transfer $7000.00 from the Sales Tax Fund to the Fire Protection Fund, and $7,000.00 from the Public Comfort Station Fund to the General Fund, was on motion of Alderman Smith seconded by Alderman Swick, adopted by the following vote' AYE: Alderman Sebree, Swick, Smith, Miller, Tink, Turner, Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY: None. Ordinance 'Compensation of Judges and Clerks of Election" was read the first time. It was moved by Alderman Hill, seconded by Alderman Cook to suspend the rules. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Swick, Smith, Miller, Tihk, Turner, Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY: None. It was moved by Alderman Hill, seconded by Alderman Smith to place the Ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Swick, Smith, Miller, Tink, Turner, Staley, and Hill. NAY: None. Alderman Miller moves, seconded by Alderman Sebree, an Ordinance be pre- pared placing Yield-Right-of-Way signs at 9th and Olive and 11th and Locust St., and the motion carried. Alderman Smith moves, seconded by Alderman Turner, the Chief of Police be authorized to purchase a supply of Uniform Traffic Tickets for use in the Police Denartment, and the motion carried. On motion of Alderman Swick, seconded by Alderman Staley, the meeting adjourned. AA P.J "ite
