Jan. 2, 1957
A regular meeting of the City Council held this day convening at the hour of
7:00 P. M. with Mayor Woods presiding. Roll call showed the following present:
Alderman Sebree, Landry, Swick, Smith, hiller, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook and
Hill. XEs:ant: Alderman Skinner and Tink.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and stood approved as read.

Officers monthly reports were submitted and on motion of Alderman Lundry, seconded
by Alderman Smith, accepted and ordered placed on file.
A communication from the Womans Christian Temperance Union and friends, contain-
ing anprox. 150 signatures, wbdecting to extension of closing hours" mwas'accepted and
ordered filed, on motion of Alderman Lundry, seconded by "lderman Swick.
Alderman Hill, chairman of the Ordinance committee, reports the Committee re-
commends the Liquor "rdinance not be amended. It was moved by Alderman Landry,
seconded by Alderman Smith, to accept the recommendation of the Ordinance committee,

and leave the Liquor hrdinance as it now stands, and the motion carried by a viva vocevote,
Resolution transferring $5 000.00 from the Parking hjeter Fund to the Road & Bridge
Fund, was on motion of Alderman Q;, seconded by Alderman Coleman, adopted by the follow-
ing vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swick, '`mith, Miller, Coleman, Turner, Staley,
Cook and Rill. NAY: None.
Alderman Skinner comes in.
Ordinance "Vacating street-N. Ave E from Chestnut St. to Edgeweod Place" was read
the second time. It was moved by Alderman Lundry, seconded b Alderman Smith to place

the Ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, '.ry, Swick,
Smith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY: None. The chair
declared the motion carried and ordinance passed, being Ordinance lyo. 308.
Ordinance "Annexation W. Locust St. West of Ave F" was read the first time. It
was moved by Alderman Hill, seconded byt' lderman Lundry to suspend the rules. Roll call
votes AYE: Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, Turner,
Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY: None. , It was then moved by AldermanLundry, seconded by
-' Alderman turner to place the Ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman
Sebree, Lundry, Swick, smith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook and Hill.
The chair declared the motion carried and rdinance passed, being Ordinance No. 309.
Ordinance "Annexation -East Chestnut St.--llth Ave east" was read the first time.
It was moved by Alderman Cook, seconded by Hlderman Staley to suspend the rules. Roll
call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, 'Turner,
Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY: None. It was then moved by Alderman Coleman, seconded by
Alderman Staley to place the ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman
Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook and Hill.
The chair declared the motion carried and "rdinance passed, being Ordinance No.310.
Ordinance "VanDyke Park-Sub-Division and North Main St." was read the first time.
It was moved by Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Landry to suspend the rules. Roll
call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swick, 'Imith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, Turner.,
Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY: None. The chair declared the motion carried txa
It was then moved by Alderman Swick, seconded by Alder-
man Lundry, to place the Ordinance on its passage. Roll call votes AYE: Alderman Sebree,
Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, Turner, Staley and Cook and Hill.
NAY: None. The chair declared the motion carried and Ordinance passed, being Ordinance
No. 311.
Ordinance "A mexation of West Hickory Street" was read the first time. It was
moved by Alderman Smith, seconded by Alderman Turner, to suspend the rules. Roll call
vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, Turner,
Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY: None. It was then moved by Alderman Smith, seconded by
Alderman Lurtlry to place the `'rdinance on its passage. Roll c all vote: AYE: Alderman
Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, Turner, Staley, `'ook and Hill.
NAY: None. The chair declared the motion carried and Ordinance passed, being Ordinance

• Ordinance "City-Treasurer Salary" was read the .second time. It was moved by
Alderman Smith, seconded by alderman Cook, to place the Ordinance on its passage. Roll
call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, i"liller, Skinner, Coleman,' 'Turner,
Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY: None. The chair declared the motioncarried and Ordinance
passed, being Ordinance No. 313.
Ordinance "City Clerk-Salary" was read the second time. It was moved by Alderman
Staley, seconded by Alderman Smith to place the ordinance on its passage. Roll call
vote; AYE: Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Coleman, Turner,
Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY: None. The chair declared the motion carried and Ordinance
passed, being Ordina rice No. 314.
On motion of Alderman Lundry, seconded by Alderman Smith, the Moose were granted
permission to hold thier "March-ef-dimes", one Saturday in January.
Alderman Hill moves, seconded by Alderman Cook, that fire protection be extended
to the Village of Banner, until such a time as their Fire District is established and
the motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.
On motion of llderman Smith, seconded by `'lderman Coleman, bids advertised for this
day on a Motor Grader, were opened and read as follows:

It was moved by Alderman Cook, seconded by Alderman Coleman, the Clark be
authorized to advertise for bids on a new Garbage Truck, to be o,-)ened Jan. 15th,
and the motion carried by unanimous vote.
On motion of Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Smith, the meeting then
adjourned.
