Dec. 18, 1956
A regular meeting of the City Council held this day convening at the hour of
7 OOP• M. with Mayor Woods presiding. Roll call showed the foilowin :Sebree, Landry, Swick Smith, Miller, Coleman, Turner Stale C g Present Alderman
Alderman Skinner and link. y, Cook and Hill. Absent:
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and stood approved as read.
Petition submitted b� local Tavern Owners, requested the Ordinance be amended to
allow longer business hours within the Cit ,rwas on motion of Alderman Lun ,
by Alderman Sebree, referred to the Legal olice Committee and Ordinance C�ittee,
by a viva voce vote. ,
Request of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce for use of the square on Jan. 5, to
spearhead the March of Limes drive by selling balloons, was on motion of Alderman
Lundry, seconded by Alderman Smith, granted.
Revolution authorizing the Clerk to give notice of Primary Election, Feb. 261 1956,
and General Election, Anril 16, 1956, was on motion of Alderman Smith, seconded by
Coleman, adopted by the following vote: ADJ,: Alderman Sebree iuldry

Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY: None. It was then moved by Alderman
Hill, seconded by Alderman Smith, to place the ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote:

Hill. NAY: None. The chair declared the motion carried and Ordina nce passed, being

It was moved by Alder-
man Cook seconded by Alderman Hill to suspend the rules. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman

It was moved by Alderman Hill, seconded by Alderman Cook, to place the Ordinance on

Ordinance passed, being ordinance o. 306.
Ordinance "Mayor Salary" was read the first time. It was moved by Alderman Swick,
seconded by Alderman Smith, to suspend the rules. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Landry,
Swick, Miller, Coleman, Turner, Staley, ook and Hill. NAY: Klderman Sebree. It was
then moved by Alderman Smith, seconded by Alderman Staley, to place the Ordinance on
its passage, and the motion carried by the following vote: AYE: Alderman Landry, Swick,
Smith, Miller, Coleman, 'Turner, Staley, Cook and Hill . NAY: Alderman Sebree. The
chair declared the motion carried and rdinance passed, being "rdinance 110. 307.
Ordinance "City Treasurer-Salary" was read the first time. It was moved by Alderman
Cook, seconded Q�.de man Staley, to suspend the rules. Roll call votes AYE: Alderman

The chair declared the motion lost. .
Ordinance "C;ity Clerk-Salary" was read the first time. It was moved by Alderman i
Staley, seconded by Alderman Cook to suspend the rules. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman
Staley, Cook and Hill. NAY: Alderman Sebree, Landry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Coleman and
Turner. Re chair declared the motion lost
