M. with Mayor Woods presiding. Roll call showed the following; present: Alderman Duncan, Sebree, ' Swick, Smith, Miller, S,,tinner, Tink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and Hill. Dept. Branley Whitehead addressed the Council, requesting police protection during the Stamp Collection Show to be held on April 7th. It was moved by Alderman Jennings seconded by Alderman Smith, the Council go along with request of the Club and give them what police protection the City can at the time, and the motion carried by unanimous roll call vote. It was moved by Alder- man Staley, seconded by Alderman Hill, to file the communication, and the council give their consent to Mr. Whitehead to commence seining as soon as possible, and the motion carried by unanimous roll call vote. The Aayor hakes his report on his attendance at the Illinois municipal League meeting in Chicago relative to the highway grogram proposed, and also interveining in the Santa lie and T.P.& W. case. Resolution for installation of overhead light at 5th and Ash Streets, was on motion of Alderman Sebree, seconded by Alderman Duncan, adopted by the following vote: AYE: Alderman Duncan, Sebree, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, 'fink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and Hill. NAY: None. Ordinance "Licensing-Taxi Cabs" was read the second time. It was moved by A1dermanStaley, seconded by Alderman Miller, to place the irdinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Duncan, Sebree,, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Tank, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and hill. NAY: None. the chair declared the motion carried and Ordinance passed, being Ordinance No. 259. Nodinance "Canton Paving improvement No. 55-A" was read the first time. It was moved by Alderman Jennings, seconded by Alderman Hill, to suspend the rules. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Duncan, Sebree, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and Hill. MU: None. It was then moved by Alderman Hill, seconded by Alderman Miller, to Place the Ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Duncan, Sebree, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and hill. NA_': None. It was moved by Alderman Duncan, seconded by Alderman Coleman, to auspend the rules. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Duncan, Sebree, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and Hill. NAY- ?wons. It was then moved by Alderman Duncan, seconded by Alderman Coleman, to place the Ordinance on its Passage. It was then moved by Alderman Hill, seconded by Alderman Jennings to place the Ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote. The chair declared the motion carried and Ordinance passed, being Ordinance No. 262. It was moved by Alde °man Jennings, seconded by Alderman Hill, the yor, Attorney, Finance Committee and Treasurer, meet to try to work out something on salary raise for c'ty employees, and the motion carried by a viva voce vote. Alderman Staley moves, seconded by Alderman Jenn'ngs, the C'_ty Clerk write `Mate Renresentatives, requesting they do all in their rower to bring City Employees under the Social Secarity Act, and the motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Swick, seconded by Alderman Cook, an Ordinance be drafted closing alley Between Johnson Ct. and Ave. B and SiDruce and Cass Place, and the motion carried.
