Jan. 17, 1956
A regular meeting of the City Council held this day convening at the hour
of 7:00 P. M. with Mayor Woods presiding. Roll call showed the following present:
Alderman Sebree, Lundry, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Tink, Coleman Turner,
Staley, Cook, Jennings and Rill. Absent: Alderman Duncan.
Minutes of the regular meeting of Jan. 3rd., of the adjourned meetings of
Jan. 4th, and 6th, and Special meeting of Jan. 11th, were read and approved.
A communication from the State Health Tept. relative to operation of local
Trailer Courts , was on motion of Alderman Smith, seconded by Alderman Lundry,
referred to the Sanitary Officer, License Committee and Pl.umb`ng inspector.
A communic-.tion from. the C_,nt )n Park District invited membere of the
Council to hear an address on Jan. '61,h on th(: s ,Jb ject of Dutch Elm.
Resolution for installat_i-)n of stye t light at Fast Cek St. between elttd arc
3rd. Ave. was on motion of Alderman Skinner, seconded by Alderman Tink, adopted
by unanimo ;s roll call vote.
Ordinance "Licensing Taxi Cabs" was read the first time.
Bonds of the following officers were on motion of Alderman Smith, seconded
by Alderman Cook, approved: Matthew Bohler; Aenneth Lindzey ; Stephen Fades; and
Clifford Fouts.
It was moved by Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman trill, Clyde Barker
be given a lease for 40ft. of his land fronting the lake, and the motion carried
by unanimous roll call vote.
On motion of Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Jennings, the B,,ildings
and Grounds committee was aurhtoized to purchase a blackboard for use in the
Council Chambers.
On motion of Alderman 11liller, seconded by Alderman "smith, the i*7 or was
r directed to represent the City at the meeting of the Illinois Municipal League
Executive Committee in Chicago on Jan. 27, with all expenses paid, and the
motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.
Alderman Gook moues, seconded by Alderman Coleman, any City official
representing the City at meetings be compensated for all expenses involved,
plus loss of work, and the motion carried by unanimous roll call vote..
Mr. Eagleston addressed the Council relative to a set license fee for
use of street for a popcorn wagon, rather than pa ment for meters. On motion
of Alderman Alderman Cook, seconded by Alderman Jennings, this was referred
to the Legal & Police Committee and Licnese Committee.
On motion of Alderman Linder, seconded b,; Alderman Smith, the meeting ,
aid j ourned.
