Ganton, Ill.
Sept. 62 1955.
A regular meeting of the City Council held this day convening at the hour of
7:30 P. M. with Mpiyor Woods presiding. Roll call showed the following present: Alder-
man Duncan, Sebree, Swick, Smith, Miller, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Turner, Staley,
Cook, Jennings and hill. Absent: Alderman Lundry.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and stood ap,-)roved as read.
Alderman Smith is excused.
Petition reguesting the pole light in rear of Salvation Army ''ldg. was presented.
On motion of Alderman Dunca*, seconded by Alderman J1 ller, same was referred to the
Light Committee.
Peition of the C & H; Market, 628 s. 5th Ave. for an unloading zone in front of
their place of business, was on motion of Alderman Duncan, referred to the Chief of
Police to investigate and report back.

The following officers monthly reports were submitted and on motion of Alderman
Duncan, seconded by Alderman Coleman, accepted and ordered fileds Chief of `olice;
Bldg. Comm; Street Supt.; City Lngr; Plumbing Inspector; Water & Swwer De�t; Water
treatment plant; and sewage treatment plant.
Alderman Duncan moves, seconded by Alderman Sebree, to accept bid of $3868.00 of
the Tri-State Waterproofing Co., for work on the city building. Roll call vote: AYE:
Alderman Duncan, Sebree, Swick, Miller, Skinner, 'fink, Coleman, burner, Staley,
Cook, Jennings and Hill. NAY: None.

Alderman Hill moves, seconded byAlderman Jennings, to purchase on rental basis
Speed Timer at 4 cost of $675.00. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman 'uncan, Sebree, Swick,
Miller, Skinner, Tink, '-�olenan, `turner, Staley, Cook, Jennings and Hill. NAY: None.
Request of the Eagle Lodge to hold a Soap-Box Durby on Sept. 18th, was on motion
of Alderman Tihk, seconded by Alderman Jennings granted by a vivavoce vote.
Request of the Jr. Girls, Vet. of Foreign Wars to hold a tag day on Nov. 5th, was
on motion of Alderman O ennings, seconded by Alderman Cook, granted.
Request of the Disabled American Veterans to hold a forget-me-not Tag day on
Oct. 1, was on motion of Alderman Duncan, seconded by Alderman Jennings granted.
It was moved by Alderman Hill, seconded by Alderman Cook, to advertise for bids
for a year's contract to push-off the Cif, Dump, bids to be received Aug. 20th.
Alderman Staley moves, seconded by Alderman Miller, to amend the present Day-
Light Savings Time ordinance, to extend the time to the last Sunday in October.
Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Duncan, Swick, Miller, Tink, Coleman, turner, Staley
Jennings and Hill. NAT : Alderman Sebree, Skinner and Cook. The chair declared the
motion carried.
On motion of Alderman Duncan, seconded by Alderman Jennings, the Mayor and City
Attorney were authorized to take necessary steps to bring a parcel of land on N. Main
Street, south of the High School, into the City, and the motion carried by a viva voce
vote.
A report submitted by the Mayor relative to the financial affairs of the city and
proposed measures for consideration by the Council, was read.
On suggestion of the Mayor, the Council went on record as extending all effort
and consideration, and if necessary appointing a Public Relations Committee, in an
endeavor to bring into the city new industries.
The proposal of a Sales Tax Ordinance was discussed pro and con.
On motion of Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Cook, the meetin g adjourned.
