Sept. 21, 1954
A regular meeting of the City Council held this day convening at the hour of
7:30 P. Psi. with Mayor �voods presiding. Roll call showed the following present:
:alderman Duncan, Aoore, Landry, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Cook,
Staley and Klobuchar. Absent : filderman Sebree and "filler.

Corrarunication from H. U, Swartzbaugh, rrincipal Canton Junior nigh :>chool
thanking the Council for improvements and pr )tectl-on afforded them since becoming
a part of the City, was ordered filed.
Communication from Beta Chapuar of Hi-Y of Y. A. C. A. requesting permission
=}" for use of Jones ark, O:.;t. 111, for Hi-Y Homecoming Carnival, was on motion of
"= Alderman Staley, seconded by 111derman Cook, granted.
Communication from Canton hark Listrict, acavlsed the Council, the board
rt declared their property on N. First -venue a public thorofare, on May 27, 1952.
It was moved by Alderman :,Toore, seconded by >>lderman Luncan, to accept N. rirst
Lvenue, from South rk line property to School property, as a pu)I is road.

The chair delcared the
motion carried.
On motion of "lderman Moore, seconded by Alderman. Tink, Oct. 2nd, was granted
the Veterand Ordanization, for Forget- le-Not tag day.
Alderman Smith, Chairman of tie rolice Committee, reported that the Comi'iittee
recommended, the Police and Fire Radio maintenance, be handled as it had in the
past, and not switch over to the Illinois Bell Tlele-) ))onp Co. maintenance. It was
moved by Alderman Skinner, seconded by alderman l'•oorc., to accept the recomnenda-
tion of tyre committee in this matte 1 . Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Duncan,
i41oore, Lundry, 5m th, Linder, .Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Cook, Staley and Klobuchar.
It was moved by -ilderman Maley, seconded by hlderinan Klobuchar, the City
authorize some Commercial fisherman to Seine fish out of Lake Canton, under the
supervision of the Departmant of 'onservation and at no cost to the City, and
to re-stock same.
It was moved by Alderman Linder, seconded by Alderman Aoore, the Legal & Police
Committee, investigate the legality of xw 4uxiliary !' fireman, and report back at
the next meeting.
On motion of -alderman Lundry, seconded by -Icler.aan i oore, the mectinF; adjourned.

A regular meeting of the City Council held this day convening at the hour of
7:00 P. M. with Mayor Woods presiding. boll call showed the following present:
Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Landry, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink, Coleman,
Cook, Staley and Klobuchar. Absent: Alderman Miller.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and stood approved as read.
Petition signed by property owners on S. 5th Avenue, objbcting to parking on
the west side of Fifth Avenue from Locust St. to Linn St., was on 11otion of Alder-
man Skinner, accepted and placed on file, which motion was seconded by Alderman
Linder, and carried by a viva voce vote.

It was moved by Alderman Moore, seconded by Alderman Skinner, all claims properly
D/ K. 'd be allowed and paid when funds are avail..ble, and the motion carried.
The following monthly reports were submitted: Water & Sewer Dept; Water 'Treatment
plant; Sewage plant; City Engr; St. Supt; Bldg. �'om; Plumbing insp. and Chief of
Police. It was moved by Alderman Skinner, seconded by Alderman Coleman, to accept
the reports and place on file.
It was moved by Alderman Linder, seconded by Alderman Skinner, the "oard of Local Improv.
