HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-15-1954 Council Meeting Minutes Canton, Illinois June 15, 1954. A regular meeting of the City Council held this day vonvening at the hour of 7:30 P. M. with Mayor Woods presiding. Roll call showed the following present: Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Lundry, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Cook and Klobuchar. Absent: Alderman Miller and Staley. Minutes of the previous meeting were reqd dnd stood approved as read. A communication from the State Sanitary Water Board, granted the City permission to install and operate sewer ettensions to existing sewers in Park Plaza SubDivision. j It was moved by Alderman Moore, seconded by Alderman Tink to refer the matter to the water & sewer committee and Legal & Police committee to investigate and report back at the next meeting, and the motion carried by a viva voce vote. Resignation of Roland Felder, as operator at the water plant, with request "a for vacation pay was read. It was moved by Alderman Moore, seconded by Alderman r Smith to accept resignation and rant vacation g g pay. The motion carried by unani- �; mous roll call vote. Ordinance entitled "Traffic Ordinance" was read for the second time. It was moved by Alderman Skinner, seconded by Alderman Tink, to place the ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Lundry, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Cook and Klobuchar. NAY: None. The chair declared the motion carried and Ordinace passed, being Ordinance No. 212 Ordinance entitled "Annual Rppropriation Ordinance, 1954-1955" was read the second time. It was moved by Alderman Moore, seconded by Alderman Linder, to place the ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Lundry, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Cook and Klobuchar. 'VAY: None. The chair declared the motion carried and Ordinance passed, being Ordinance No. 213. Ordinance "Annexation-Wallace Park District" was read for the first time. Bond of Kenneth Dearing, as auxiliary police, was on motion of Alderman Linder, seconded by alderman Duncan, accepted and ordered filed. Alderman Linder m 9 seconded by Alderman Moore, the City Clerk, advertise for bids on a one-half/ 41PPor the Water Department, bids to be opened on July 6th, and the motion carried by a viva voce vote. On motion of Alderman Moore, seconded by Alderman Tink, the V. F. W. were granted priviledge to sponser an exhibit of Rodents from the South Pacific in a 25ft. Trailer, on the square, to be financed by contributions only, trailer to be parked on the cross-walk on west side of the park, under supervision of the Police department, and the 1*otion carried by a viva voce vote. Alderman Tink moves, seconded by Alderman Skinner, the Buildings & Grounds com. investigation cost of installing a sound system in the Council room, and report back. It was moved by Alderman Smith, seconded by Alderman Linder, petition presented to the Council on May 4th, calling for a special election to fill vacancy for Alderman, be granted. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Smith, Linder, Cook and Klobu- char. NAY: Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Lundry, Skinner, Tink, Coleman.
