May 18, 1954
A regular meeting of the City Council held this day convening at the hour of
7:30 P. M. with Mayor Woods presiding. Roll call showed the following present:
Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Lundry, Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink,
Coleman Cook, Staley and Klobuchar. Absent: None.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and stood approved as read.
Mayor Woods being called away from the meeting, it was moved by Alderman
Duncan, seconded by Alderman Cook, that Alderman Danny Moore, serve as Mayor
pro-tem, and the motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.
A Flag for Jones Park was presented to the City by Mrs. Dewey Fillingham,
in behalf of the Eagle Auxiliary, and accepted by 14ayor Pro-tem Moore.
It was moved by Alderman Coleman, seconded by Alderman Sebree, Guy Williams
be granted permission to placb nop-corn on the corner of Elm St. and the Square
at the King Drug corner. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore,
Lundry, Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tibk, Coleman, Cook, Staley, and "lobuchar.
Resignation of Dan Puskarich, as Alderman in the 7th Ward, was on motion of
Alderman Klobuchar, seconded by Alderman Hiller, accepted by the following vote:
AYE: Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Lundry, Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink,
Coleman, Cook, Staley and Klobuchar. NAY: None.
It was moved by Alderman Smith, seconded by Alderman Staley, the attorney
take whatever legal steps are necessary to have Wallace Park brought into the
City, and the motion carried by unani:ous roll call vote.
Ordinance "Census taker for Annexed Territory" was read for the second
time. It was moved by Alderman Linder, seconded by Alderman nlobuchar to place
the ordinance on its passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Duncan,
Moore, Lundry, Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Cook, Staley,
and Klobuchar. NAY: None. The chair declared the motion carried and the Ordin-
ance passed, Being Ordinance N0.211.
Upon proposal submitted by Scruggs & Hammond, in connection with City Planning
and Zoning, it was moved by Alderman Skinner, seconded by Alderman Linder, the
Council give them a vote of confidence, that they will go along with other civic
organizations and governmental boards, in accordance with plans for City planning
and zoning. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Lundry, Miller,
Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink. Coleman, Cook, Staley and Klobuchar. NAY: None.
A contract proposal submitted bj; the Mackinaw Hardware Lumber Co. for re-
moval of tree!%. i.n the City, was on motion of Alderman Coleman, seconded by Alder-
man "lobuchar accepted, and the Mayor and Clerk were authorized to enter into
agreement with the Mackinaw Hardware Lumber Co., upon receipt of an Insurance
Policy covering same. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore,
Lundry, Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Cook, Staley and nlobuchar.
Bonds for the following officials and employees appointed for the coming year
were on motion of Alderman Smith, seconded by Alderman Cook, approved and accepted:
Lester S ith, Claude Grose, John Morgan, Morris enderson,Chester Phillips, Robert
Harding,Paul Nebergall, Richard Smith, Henry Picton,Raymond Ball, Dale St. Clair,
Herman Walker, Robert Murphy, E. L. Brasel, John Taylor, Howard Gibbons,John L.
Murphy.
The Traffic Committee were instructed to investigate the possibiliby and
necessity of one-side parking on South First Avenue, from Pine Street south.
On motion of Alderman Skinner, seconded by Alderman Cook, the meeting then
adjourned.
