A regular meeting of the City Council heild this day convening at the hour of
7:30 P. V1. with Mayor "oods Ares id tng. Roll call showed the following present:
Alderman: Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Lundry, Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink,
Coleman, Cook, Staley, Klobuchar and ruskarich. XXYmx=n Absent: gone.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and stood approved as read.
Petition of property owners requesting that the necessary steps be taken to
vacate alley running from 4th to 5th avenue, between Xlyrtle and Birch Street, was
on motion of Alderman Puskarich, seconded by Alderman Klbobuchar accepted and re-
commended to the Ordinance committee to have drafted an ordinance governing same,
to be presented to the council, and the motion carried by uaanimous roll call vote.
Petition of property owners on E. ''irch St. rer.uested a stop-sign on 5th and
Birch. It was moved by Alderman lobuchar, seconded by Alderman Puskarich, the
matter be referred to the Ordinance committee by unanimous roll call vote.
It was moved by Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Smith, the city purchase
all gasoline for city owned vehicles from bulk plants, and the various departments
purchase the gas from the pump at the city building, and the motion carried by
unanimous roll call vote.
The mayor resorts on his meeting in Chicago with the Illinois 1'unicinal
League committees.
A communication from County Treasurer Pauline Lamm, informed the council the
amount of back taxes collected by the Special Deputy Collector for the City of
Canton was "2358.90, and the amount paid into the City was :$1651.23. It was moved
by Alderman Smith, the City Attorney and City Treasurer demand from the County
Treasurer, full share of back taxes collected, less the percentas-.e for collecting
as allowed by law. The motion was seconded by Alderman Linder, and carried by the
following vote: A' Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Lundry, Miller, Smith, Linder,
Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Cook, Staley, Klobuchar and Puskarich. NAY_ : None.
The annual APPR�PRIATTON ORDINP.`10E was read for the first time.
Ordinance entitled "Salary-City Attorney" was read for the first time.
Ordinance entitled "Weight Limits on certain streets" was read for the first
time as follows:

BE IT ORDATNID BY THE CITY COUNCIL Oi' THE CITY OF Ci NTO'.`J, ILLINOIS
Section 1. No vehicle or combination of vehicles, unloaded or with load, shall
j be operated upon the highways or streets of the City of Canton, Illinois, exce-ting
- thope highways or streets paved with concrete, when the weight of such load, including
the weight of such vehicle or combination of vehicles, shall exceed ten tons in wieght.
Section 2. Any person violating the provisionf of the -rdinance shall be sgbject
to a renalty of not less than $ dollars nor more than two hundred dollars for
each offense.
Section 3. Any Ordinance in confilat with any of the provisions of this ordinance
are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall be in effect ten days after its passage by the
City Council and approved by the Mayor.
It was moved by Alderman Klobuchar, seconded by Alderman Cook, that :,,25.00 be
inserted in the blank dollar amount. boll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Duncan,
Moore, Lundry, Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Cook, Staley, Klobuchar
and Puskarich. NKY: none. Alderman Linder moves, seconded by Alderman Ltaley, to
suspend the rules requiring the second reading of the Ordinance. Roll call vote: AYE:
Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Lundry, Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink, Coleman,
Cook, Staley, Klobuchar, Puskarich. NAY: None. —he chair declared the motion carried.
Alderman Lundry moves, seconded by Alderman Smith, to place the ordinance on its
passage. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Lundry, Miller, Smith,
Linder, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Cook, Staley, Klobuchar and ruskarich. NAY: None.
The chair declared the motion carried and Ordinance passed, being Ordinance N o.177.

Attorney Sebo, representing Canton 'Township Board, requested a meeting Xt1k of
the groper committee with the Board of Town Auditors, in connection with drawing up
a lease on the Township Biilding, which lease expires in 7 years, but due to needed
repairs on the building, the board would want to submit a lease for 41 years, commen-
cing with the expiration date of the present lease. It was moved by Alderman Moore,
seconded by Alderman Duncan, the Building's and (:rounds committee meet with the Board
of Townshi, Auditors, and report their findings at the next; meeting of the Council,
and the motion carried by a viva voce vote.
Agreement between City of Canton and Anthony G. I'otesanof, for installiation
of 8" water main and six inch water line to the iotesanos Addition, was submitted.
It was moved by Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Linder, the 'gayor and City
Clerk be authorized to enter into agreement with Anthony Potesanos, and the motion
carried by unanimous roll call vote.
It was moved by Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Linder, the Ordinance
committee have c�ra�ted an ordinance, setting -the minimum fine for speeding and reckless
driving at $25.00. Roll call vote: aye; Alderman Moore, Lundry, Smith, Linder,
6oleman, Staley, nlobuchar and Puskarich. NAY: Sebree, Duncan, Miller, Skinner,
Tink and Cook. AYE-8; NAY-6. The chair declared the motion carried.
Rids submitted on power mover, were on motion of X"ilderman !`filler, seconded by
Alderman ''mith, referred to the Wate do Sewer Committee and B i.ildings and Grounds
committee, to check and report back at the next meeting and the motion carried by
.-i a viva voce vote.
Bids submitted on cars for the police department, were on motion of Alderman
Moore, seconded by Alderman Coleman, referred to the Legal and t"olice committee, to
study and report back at the next meeting and the motion carried by a viva voce vote.
bids submitted on a used nick-ur) truck for the Water department, were on motion
of Alderman Sebree, seconded by Alderman Ploore, referred to the Water I-1c sewer committee
and i"ayor to check into and report back at the next meting, and the motion carried
by a viva voce vote.
On motion of Alderman 11"Ioore, seconded by Alderman Cook, the meeting adjourned.
