June 2, 1953
A regular meeting of the City Council held this day convening at the hour of
7:30 r. M. with Mayor hoods presiding. Roll call showed the following present=
Alderman Sebree, Duncan, Moore, Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Ti.nk, Coleman,
Cook, Staley, Klobuchar and ruskarich. Absent: Alderman Lundry.
Minutes of the nrevi.ous meting were read and stood approved as read.

On motion of Alderman °Ioore, seconded by Alderman Oebree, all claims properly
O. 'K. were allowed and ordered paid when funds are available, by moll call vote.'
The following monthly officers reports were submitted: Chief of police; Street
Gutp; City Lngineer; Plumbing Inspector; Water treatment nlant;Sewer treatment
plant; Water & Sewer Dent; and lreas. of "'ire Dept. It was moved by Alderman
Skinner, seconded by Alderman Klobuchar, to acceit the renorts and place on file.
It was moved by Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Moore, to re-imburse
Orval Kuhn, " 30.00 a month for the use of his personal truck, from May lst, ur, to
the time of purchase of a nick-up truck for the water plant, and the motion carried
by unanimous roll call vote.
On motion of Alderman Moore, seconded by Alderman Smith, the City Clerk was
authorized to advertise for bids on a used Fick-Up truck for use at the water treat-
ment -plant, and the motion carried unanimously by roll call vote.
henuest of the Lions Club to hold ice-cream social in Jones Park on June 13th,
was on motion of °lderman Moore, seconded by Alderman Smith, granted by a viva voce
vote.

On motion of Alderman Moore, seconded by Alderman Skinner, the Ordinance
Committee and City Attorney were instructed to draft an Ordinance, restricting
load limits up to ten tons, and vehicles with lugs on certain streets within the
city, and the motion carried by a viva voce vote.
It was moved by Alderman Linder, seconded by Alderman Staley, the water & it
sewer committee with the City Attorney, draw up an agreement between the City and
Mr. T. Potesanos, relative to the installation of water pipe into the new sub-
division, and the motion carried by uanimous roll call vote.
On motion of Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Linder, the City Clerk was
instructed to advertise for bids on a 70ft to 76" Power mower, to be used by the water &
Sewer departments and i3uildings & Grounds bids to be received June 16th, 7:30P.M. and
the motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

On motion bf Alderman Moore, seconded by Alderman Coleman, the Mayor was authorized
to attend a meeting of various committees of the Illinois Municipal League in Cti,icago
with expenses paid, and the motion carried by a viva voce vote.

Clerk investigate the appointment of a local collector of back taxes by the County
Treasurer, and report their findings at the next meeting, and the motion carried by a

On motion of Alderman Duncan, seconded by Alderman Ailler, the City Clerk was
instructed to advertise for bids on one police car with trade-in of a 1951 Ford, and
also on two police cars with trade-in of 1951 Ford and 1952 Plymouth, bids to be
received on June 16th, and the motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.
A communication fromthe mire and Police Commissioners, notified the council of the
permanent appointment to the Police force of John Morgan, also of the appointment of
Kenneth Dearing as Auxiliary Policeman. It was moved by Alderman Moore, seconded by
Alderman Miller, to confirm the appointments. Roll call vote: AYE; Alderman Sebree,
Duncan Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, link, Coleman, �'ook, Staley, Klobuchar
and Puskaricb. NAY: None. The chair declared the motion carried.
An Ordinance entitled "Vacation Pay-City Employees" was read for the first time.
It was m-)ved by Alderman Staley, seconded by Alderman Coleman, to suspend the rules
requiring the second reading of the Ordinance. Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree,
Duncan, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink, Coleman, Look, St,._]ey, Klobuchar and Puskarich.
NAY: Alderman Moore and Ailler. The chair declared the motion carried. It was moved
by Alderman Linder, seconded by Alderman Staley, to place on its massage Ordnance
entitled "Vacation P,-)y-City Lmpl.:)yees" Roll call vote:AYE: Alderman Sebree, Duncan,
Miller, Smith, Linder, Skinner, Tink, `'oleman, Cook, Staley, Klobuchar and 1uskari.ch.
1AY: Moore. The chair declared the motion carried and Ordinance passed, being Jrdinance
No. 177.
Request of the `'uni.or chamber of Commerce to hold their annual Merchants
Sept. 16th thru the 19th on the East Side Show on
Cook, seconded by Alderman Staley, granted by unanimouserollscallrvoten of Alderman
Request of the Grandmother's Club that they be granted the use of the South Side
of the Square for a dance, and permission to erect tents for serving meals, also parade
to be held in connection with the Merchants Show, was on motion of Alderman Staley,
seconded by Alderman gook, granted by unanimous roll call vote.
Alderman Staley moves, seconded by Alderman Linder, the Chief of Police be instruct-
ed to put on a drive against speeders and enforce the law on all reckless driving, and
the motion carried by a viva voce vote.

Alderman Staley suggested the Finance committee and 1%1,ror investigate the possibilit
of a saving in gas, by use of the pump at the city building, by all departments. y
It was moved by Alderman Miller, seconded by Alderman Coleman, a new ordinance be
drafted, raising salary of the City Attorney, and the motion carried by a viva voce vote.
On motion of Alderman link, seconded by Alderman Cook, the clerk was instructed to
mark the absent alderman present, and. the motion carried by unanimous roll ca'l vote.
