January 20, 1953
A regular m eting of the City Council held this day conveningwt the hour of
7:00 P. M. with Mayor woods presiding. Roll call showed the following present:
Alderman Sebree, Blackaby, Moore, Jones, Skinner, Linder, Rand, Cook and St.Clair.
Absent: Alderman Tink, Terpening and Rlobuchar.
Minutes of the previous meeting; were read and stood approved as read.
A communication from the Police Commissioners informed the council that
Richard Smith had completed his probationary period, and they recommended hhs
appointment as permanent police officer. The Mayor appointed for re-confirmation
Richard Smith as police patrolman. It was moved by Alderman Moore, seconded by
Alderman Rand to confirm the appointment and the motion carried by the following
roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Sebree, Blackaby, Moore, Jones, Skinner, Linder,
Hand, Cook and St. Clair. RAY: None. The chair declared the motion carried.
A communication from the Police Gommissioners, advised the council they
had appointed Lester Smith , as third shift radio operator under civil service.
't The Mayor appoints Lester Smith as radio operator under civil service. It was
moved by Alderman Hand, seconded by Alderman. Linder to confirm the appointment
and the motion carried unanimoVsly byr,roll call vote.
On recommendation of Attorney Martin, Alderman Moore moves, seconded by
Alderman St. Clair, to set the election for the Municipal Band Tax, for the
General Election, April 21, 1953, and the motion carried by the following vote:
AYE: Alderman Sebree, Blackaby, Moore, Jones, Skinner, Linder, Hand, Cook and
St. Clair. NAY: None.
It was moved by Alderman Moore, seconded by Alderman. Rand, the traffic
committee be empowered to purchase "Slow-School Zone" signs to be erected at
all school crossings. The motion carried by the following vote: AYE: Alderman
Sebree, Blackaby, Moore, Skinner, Linder, Hand, Cook and St. Clair. NAY: Alder-
man Jones.
Alderman Cook moves, seconded by Alderman Moore, the Ordinance committee
have drafted an ordinance to place 4-way stop signs at Chestnut and 8th Avenue.
Roll call vote: AYE: Alderman Moore, Jones, Skinner, Cook and St. Clair.
NAY: Alderman S ebree, Blackaby, Linder, Hand. The chair declared the motion
carried.
It was moved by Alderman Skinner, seconded by Alderman Jones, the water
Sewer committee investigate the installation of water and sewer to propertys on
8th & Grant place, and report back at the next meeting, and the motion carried
by a viva voce vote.
It was moved by Alderman Blackaby, seconded by Alderman Cook, the absent
Aldermen be marked present, and the motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.
On motion of Alderman Blackaby, seconded by Alderman Moore, the meeting
adjourned.
